Czech fuel prices — official weekly average and legal price cap
Czechia has no public station-by-station price feed. What is official: the national weekly average of the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ) for Natural 95, diesel and LPG, and — while a price regulation is in force — the legal maximum price that the Ministry of Finance sets for every day.

Key figures
- Diesel 2.071 €/L in week 39/2026 is the highest weekly value since the series began in 2016 (previous high 1.977 €/L in week 11/2022).
- Natural 95 1.884 €/L in week 39/2026: higher than in 98 % of the 532 weeks published since 2016 (series high 1.935 €/L, week 27/2022; low 0.914 €/L, week 20/2020).
- Diesel is 0.187 €/L (+9.9%) more expensive than Natural 95 in week 39; over 2016–2025 diesel cost on average 2.0% less than petrol and was the cheaper fuel in 80 % of weeks.
- Since the end of the price cap (last capped week 29/2026): Natural 95 +15.2%, diesel +37.1%, LPG −1.9% to week 39/2026.
- LPG costs 47 % of the Natural 95 price per litre in week 39 (0.889 €/L).
How to read these numbers
What ČSÚ publishes. Every week the fuel companies report to ČSÚ (statistical survey E 2-52) the average price of their whole network of public stations, all taxes included. ČSÚ publishes the national average weighted by each company's sales volume of the previous year. The price is the one valid on the Monday of the week; ČSÚ releases it on Friday at 09:00 Prague time (Thursday when Friday is a public holiday). In 2022 the survey covered 9 oil companies and 2 large retailers with about 1,500 public stations.
Gaps. ČSÚ did not publish 28 weeks between 2016 and 2025, mostly around Easter, 1 and 8 May, 5–6 July and Christmas. They are shown as gaps, never interpolated.
Currencies. Each weekly price is converted at the ECB reference rate of its Monday (or the last fixing before it); each legal maximum at the rate of its day. Changes, the diesel–petrol gap and year-on-year percentages are calculated from the Kč prices; year-on-year compares with the same ISO week 52 weeks earlier and stays empty when that week was not published. US dollars are shown per US gallon.
Legal maximum. During a regulation the Ministry of Finance publishes, every working day at 14:00 Prague time in the Cenový věstník, the maximum price per litre of petrol 95 and diesel for the next day (on Friday for the weekend). It equals the average of four wholesale price indices plus a regulated margin (2.50 Kč/L; 3.00 Kč/L from 1 May to 19 July 2026), plus 21 % VAT, rounded down. Periods: 8 April – 19 July 2026 and 1 – 31 October 2026 (Government Decree 172/2026).

ČSÚ is the body that reports the Czech figures to the European Commission, so the Oil Bulletin shows the same numbers (checked on 530 common weeks since 2016: for Natural 95 and diesel the average difference is below 0.01 Kč/L). The Commission usually publishes them about a day before ČSÚ's own release.

What is the average fuel price in Czechia this week?
In week 39 (price valid on Monday 21 Sep 2026) the national average was 45.88 Kč/L for Natural 95, 50.43 Kč/L for diesel and 21.65 Kč/L for LPG, according to the Czech Statistical Office.
Is there a maximum fuel price in Czechia?
Only while a government regulation is in force: from 8 April to 19 July 2026 and from 1 to 31 October 2026. The Ministry of Finance then publishes the legal maximum for petrol 95 and diesel for each day; stations may sell below it.
When does ČSÚ publish the weekly prices?
On Friday at 09:00 Prague time (Thursday when Friday is a public holiday), for the Monday of the same week.
Are these the prices at my petrol station?
No. They are national averages (ČSÚ) and legal maximum prices (Ministry of Finance). Individual stations can be cheaper or more expensive than the average.
