Fuel price charts for your story
Build a chart in three steps, then embed it (it updates itself every week) or download it as PNG, SVG, CSV or JSON. Every chart carries the fuel, the currency, the date and the source.
Make your own chart
Link a chart tool to our data file: the address never changes and always returns the latest figures (CC BY 4.0, credit fuel-prices.eu; only openly licensed sources; terms: fuel-prices.eu/license/).
- Copy the data link — a CSV made for chart tools (no note lines at the end):
https://www.fuel-prices.eu/charts/data.csv?type=map&fuel=petrol&plain=1Also: JSON - Datawrapper (updates itself): in step 1 choose “Link external dataset”, paste the link, then “Use Datawrapper server”. Datawrapper re-reads the file every minute for the first 24 hours, then every hour for 29 days; republish the chart to start the 30 days again.
- Flourish: in the “Data” tab, click “Upload data file” and pick the downloaded CSV. On Flourish business plans, “Import from URL” with the link keeps the chart up to date.
- Google Sheets: type
=IMPORTDATA("https://www.fuel-prices.eu/charts/data.csv?type=map&fuel=petrol&plain=1")in a cell; Sheets checks for updates every hour while the file is open. Excel: “Data” › “From Web”, paste the link, “OK”; “Refresh All” fetches the latest figures. - Credit line, ready to copy:

What the numbers are
Sources, method and licence
Weekly
EU countries: the European Commission’s EU Weekly Oil Bulletin, national average prices including taxes, in € per litre. The EU average is the Commission’s own figure, weighted by each country’s consumption. In the full-tank chart, every amount in a national currency is converted at the official rate of the date of that price (the bulletin’s Monday, or the day of a live price), not at today’s rate: the ECB reference rate. The rate, its date and its source are printed on the chart.
Live
Countries outside the EU (the UK): the latest price from its national source (DESNZ Fuel Finder, Open Government Licence v3.0), collected by us as often as the feed updates, from every 30 minutes to once a day — the average of the station prices. The charts use only national sources that publish an open licence. The date of each price is in the map tooltip and in the data file. The map shows these prices in euro, converted at the ECB reference rate of 22 Oct 2026 for GBP.
Credit & licence
Free to publish, also commercially, under CC BY 4.0 with the credit “Source: fuel-prices.eu” and a link. The charts use only the EU Weekly Oil Bulletin, ECB exchange rates, Eurostat inflation and national feeds that publish an open licence; the full credit line, the licence, the data source and the date are drawn inside every image. The exact credit and what is not covered: licence page; every source and its terms: sources. More figures and ready-to-quote sentences on the press page.
