National average prices of heating oil (heating gas oil) including all taxes, as reported by each EU country to the European Commission's Weekly Oil Bulletin. These are official weekly benchmarks, not delivery quotes: the price you pay depends on quantity, area and supplier.

Notes: what the figures do and do not cover
- Ireland and the United Kingdom: most homes heat with kerosene, a different product that the bulletin does not cover. The Irish figure is heating gas oil. The United Kingdom has not reported since 21 December 2020.
- Greece: heating oil is sold only from 15 October to 30 April, so there is no price outside the season.
- Hungary reports exactly the same price as for road diesel. Malta's price is set by the government. Portugal reports a heating oil price above road diesel.
- Belgium also publishes an official daily maximum price; the figure here is the weekly national average sent to the Commission.
- Discontinued series: Bulgaria (last reported 24 April 2023, €1,106.49 per 1,000 L); Netherlands (last reported 27 February 2023, €1,902.00 per 1,000 L); Slovakia (last reported 26 September 2011, €999.69 per 1,000 L); United Kingdom (last reported 21 December 2020, €533.42 per 1,000 L). These countries no longer send a heating oil price and have no country page.

What is the average price of heating oil in the EU?
In the week of 21 September 2026 the weighted EU average was €1,752.17 per 1,000 litres including all taxes, i.e. €1.752 per litre, according to the European Commission Weekly Oil Bulletin.
Where is heating oil cheapest and most expensive in the EU?
In the week of 21 September 2026, Malta had the lowest reported price (€1,000.00 per 1,000 L) and Denmark the highest (€2,516.09 per 1,000 L). Differences come mainly from excise duty and VAT.
Why are some countries missing?
The Netherlands, Bulgaria, Slovakia and the United Kingdom no longer report a heating oil price to the bulletin. Greece reports only during the heating season (15 October to 30 April).
Is this the same product everywhere?
The bulletin reports heating gas oil. In Ireland and the United Kingdom most homes heat with kerosene, which is a different product and is not covered here. Hungary reports the same price for heating gas oil as for road diesel.
When is the data updated?
Every week: prices are recorded on Monday and the Commission usually publishes them on Thursday. This page updates automatically.
