When neighbouring countries diverge by roughly €0.12/L or more on the official weekly diesel average, tanking on the cheap side of the border pays. A corridor gets a HOT · new this week badge only when it was below that threshold in the previous bulletin week and crossed it in the latest one.

What is a “HOT · new this week” diesel gap?
A corridor is HOT when the official weekly gap was below our wide-gap threshold (~€0.12/L) in the previous bulletin week and above it in the latest one — a real crossing, not a gap that has simply been wide for months. Gaps that stay wide keep their place in the list without the badge.
Where do these prices come from?
Country averages come from the European Commission Weekly Oil Bulletin (fuel_prices series on fuel-prices.eu) — official consumer prices with taxes, updated weekly. They are national averages, not a specific motorway station.
Diesel or petrol — which gap matters?
Corridors are ranked on diesel (most cross-border tank tourism). Where the bulletin also publishes petrol 95 (euro95), we show that gap as a secondary line so you can check both tanks.
How do I use this when driving?
If you are travelling from the expensive side toward the cheap side, delay the fill-up until after the border. Use Smart search or the live maps for station-level prices near the crossing, and the trip calculator for a full route estimate.
