Spanish pump labels: diesel is "Gasóleo A"; the everyday unleaded petrol is "Gasolina 95" (E5 or E10) — that is the fuel we compare here as Petrol 95. Higher-octane "98" is sold separately and usually costs a little more.

By plane, with a rental car

For a fly-drive holiday, here is the cheapest live petrol we hold near the centre of the main UK-served airports:

Rental fuel policy: almost all Spanish rental companies use "full-to-full" — you collect the car with a full tank and must return it full, with a receipt from a nearby station kept as proof. Returning it part-empty means paying the company's own (usually much higher) refuelling charge, not the pump price above. This is a common commercial practice, not legal advice — check your own rental agreement for the exact terms.

Where these numbers come from

Spanish prices come from the Geoportal Gasolineras feed run by the Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica (no key required, official open data). We hold 12,417 Spanish stations, of which 11,341 reported a price in the last 7 days. UK prices come from the retailer files published under the CMA Fuel Finder scheme (Tesco, BP, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Esso, Jet, MFG, Shell and others): 2,374 of 3,879 British stations are current. Medians, not averages, so a handful of motorway outliers cannot move the headline. Prices convert at the ECB reference rate and are indicative: the pump is the only price that counts.
