help Frequently Asked Questions
What is the weekend vignette and when is it valid?
The weekend vignette is valid from Friday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59. It's perfect for a quick weekend trip to the Black Sea coast. At ~€5, it's cheaper than the 7-day option if you're only traveling on the weekend.
I'm driving from Romania to Turkey. What do I need?
You need: 1) Romanian Rovinieta (~€3 for 7 days), 2) Danube Bridge toll (~€6 at the crossing), and 3) Bulgarian e-vignette (~€8 for 7 days). Turkey doesn't require a vignette. Total: ~€17 for the transit.
Is the Danube Bridge toll included in the vignette?
No! The Danube Bridge (Ruse-Giurgiu) has a separate toll of ~€6 for cars, paid at the bridge. This is on top of your e-vignette.
Can I drive to Greece through Bulgaria?
Yes! Take the A3 Struma motorway from Sofia to Kulata (Greece border). The 7-day e-vignette covers this route. Greece has toll roads but no vignette system – you pay at toll booths.
Do I need a vignette for the Black Sea coast (Sunny Beach, Varna)?
Yes, the A1 and A2 motorways to Burgas and Varna require an e-vignette. For a weekend trip, the weekend vignette (~€5) is the cheapest option.
Can I pay in Euros at the border?
Yes, the official website accepts Euros, and many border kiosks do too. However, buying online is faster and you avoid potential queues.
Is there a 1-day vignette for Bulgaria?
No, the shortest standard option is 7 days. However, if you're traveling on a weekend, the weekend vignette (Fri-Sun) is available for ~€5.
