help Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still buy a physical vignette sticker?
No, physical stickers were discontinued in January 2021. Czech Republic is now 100% digital. The e-dálnice is linked to your license plate number.
Is the 1-day vignette really 24 hours?
Yes! It's exactly 24 hours from your chosen start time, not calendar days. If you start at 18:00 on Monday, it's valid until 18:00 on Tuesday. Great for overnight transits.
Can I buy the e-dálnice at the border?
Yes, there are sales points at major border crossings. But it's easier to buy online before you travel – the website is available in English, German, and Polish.
What if I entered my license plate incorrectly?
You need to buy a new e-dálnice with the correct plate. Unfortunately, corrections aren't possible after purchase. Always double-check before paying!
Do rental cars have e-dálnice included?
It depends on the rental company. Many Czech rentals include it, but international rentals entering Czech Republic usually don't. Always check with your rental company or verify the plate at edalnice.cz.
I'm driving from Germany to Poland. Do I need a Czech vignette?
If you use Czech motorways (like D8 from Dresden to Wrocław), yes. The 1-day vignette for €9.20 is perfect for this transit. Alternative routes through regular roads exist but add significant time.
Can I get a refund if I don't use the motorways?
No, e-dálnice purchases are non-refundable. Make sure you need it before buying. You can check your route to see if it uses tolled roads.
