Spain diesel at €1.86/l, the highest in our series since 26 June 2026

On 21 August 2026, the national average price of diesel in Spain reached €1.86/l, the highest value in our daily series, which covers 26 June – 21 August 2026. That is €0.010 a litre above the previous peak of €1.85/l, recorded on 19 August 2026.

Our daily national series for this market covers 26 June – 21 August 2026 — 57 days — so no comparison here reaches further back than that. Between 14 August 2026 and 21 August 2026 the national average rose 1.5%, from €1.83/l to €1.86/l. The current level is 23.3% above the 26 June – 21 August 2026 low of €1.51/l, reached on 1 July 2026.

Source and method

Prices are reported by station operators to Geoportal de Hidrocarburos (Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico (MITECO)). We collect them once a day and calculate the averages in this article ourselves. The national average is the unweighted mean of the 11,345 stations that reported a valid price for diesel, after we drop readings outside our plausibility range. Full method: how we calculate.
