On 9 September 2026, the national average price of petrol in Italy reached €2.07/l, the highest price in our daily series of live station prices (since 26 June 2026). That is €0.006 a litre above the previous peak of €2.06/l, recorded on 8 September 2026.

Correction (26 September 2026): figures recalculated from the complete daily data, after we removed prices from stations that had left the official feed. Earlier version — Petrol, national average on 9 September 2026: €2.047/l (now €2.071/l).

Correction (27 September 2026): 25 June 2026 was a partial day (only a little over half of the usual number of stations reported), which our daily series leaves out, so the period now starts on 26 June 2026, the first complete day. Source and method

Prices are reported by station operators to Osservaprezzi Carburanti (Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy). We collect them once a day and calculate the averages in this article ourselves. The national average is the unweighted mean of the 21,062 stations that reported a valid price for petrol, after we drop readings outside our plausibility range. Full method: how we calculate.
