Fuel prices in Italy, 14 – 20 September 2026

From Monday 14 September 2026 to Sunday 20 September 2026, this is how national average pump prices in Italy moved. Diesel: up 5.3% over 14 – 20 September 2026, from €2.22/l to €2.34/l. Petrol: up 2.3% over 14 – 20 September 2026, from €2.11/l to €2.16/l. The largest single-day move was on 19 September 2026: diesel +1.5%.

Correction (26 September 2026): figures recalculated from the complete daily data, after we removed prices from stations that had left the official feed. Earlier version — Petrol, national average on 23 September 2026: €2.144/l (now €2.155/l). Earlier headline: “Italy petrol reaches series high: €2.14/l”.

Correction (27 September 2026): 25 June 2026 was a partial day (only a little over half of the usual number of stations reported), which our daily series leaves out, so the period now starts on 26 June 2026, the first complete day. Correction (30 October 2026): the Italian price history was rebuilt from the official MIMIT archive. Before, at some stations the standard diesel or petrol series had picked up other products (Blue Diesel, HVO, attended-service prices), so the daily averages were slightly off. Figures and percentages recalculated. Earlier version — Petrol, daily national average on 20 September 2026: €2.153/l (now €2.157/l).

Source and method

Prices are reported by station operators to Osservaprezzi Carburanti (Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy). We collect them once a day and calculate the averages in this article ourselves. The national average is the unweighted mean of the 21,046 stations that reported a valid price for petrol, after we drop readings outside our plausibility range. Full method: how we calculate.
