Cyprus keeps its reduced excise duty on motor fuels until 30 November 2026: €359 per 1,000 litres of unleaded petrol and €330 per 1,000 litres of diesel, instead of the regular €429 and €400. The latest extension (from 18 September) is Law 125(I)/2026, published in the Official Gazette on 17 September 2026.
What changes
| Fuel | Regular rate | Until 30 Nov 2026 | Effect per litre, incl. 19% VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unleaded petrol 95 | €429 | €359 | −8.33 cents |
| Diesel | €400 | €330 | −8.33 cents |
What it means at the pump
The cut is €70 per 1,000 litres, or 7 cents per litre; with 19% VAT that is about 8.33 cents per litre for both petrol and diesel, if the pre-tax price stays the same. In the European Commission’s Weekly Oil Bulletin, the Cypriot average on 5 October 2026 was €1.744 per litre of unleaded petrol and €2.030 per litre of diesel.
Since when and until when
The reduced rate has applied without a break since 4 April 2026, under three laws: 46(I)/2026 (4 April – 30 June), 120(I)/2026 (1 July – 17 September) and 125(I)/2026 (18 September – 30 November 2026). No further extension beyond 30 November has been published.
A correction in our data
The European Commission’s tax sheet still lists the regular €429 and €400. The fuel-prices.eu price breakdown pages now show the legal rates from 4 April 2026.
