For diesel on which the duty to declare and pay excise arises between 1 and 31 October 2026, Czechia waives CZK 1,939 per 1,000 litres of the excise. Instead of the standard CZK 9,950, the rate is CZK 8,011 per 1,000 litres. The government decided this by a general measure (No. MF-48595/2026/39-1) dated 22 September 2026. The excise on petrol does not change.
What changes
| Fuel | Until 30 Sep 2026 | 1–31 October 2026 | Effect per litre, incl. 21% VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Diesel | CZK 9,950 | CZK 8,011 | −CZK 2.35 |
What it means at the pump
CZK 1,939 per 1,000 litres is CZK 1.94 per litre; with 21% VAT that is about CZK 2.35 less per litre of diesel, if the pre-tax price stays the same. In the European Commission’s Weekly Oil Bulletin, the Czech average on 5 October 2026 was €1.952 per litre of diesel (about CZK 47.74) and €1.847 per litre of Natural 95 petrol (about CZK 45.17), at the ECB rate of 5 October 2026.
How long
The waiver covers tax liability arising until 31 October 2026. According to the measure, CZK 8,011 per 1,000 litres is the minimum rate set by the EU Energy Taxation Directive (2003/96/EC). No measure for November has been published yet.
