France publishes pump prices as official open data, station by station. That is why we can show you individual stations and their price rather than only a national average — and why a French price on this site can be a few hours old rather than a week old.

The price includes TICPE (the fuel excise duty) and 20% VAT charged on the whole amount, tax included. The spread inside France is wide: supermarket stations such as Leclerc, Intermarché or Carrefour are usually well below the motorway service stations, which are the dearest fuel in the country.

France has no national vignette, but motorway tolls are a real part of the cost of crossing the country, and low-emission zones in the larger cities require a Crit'Air sticker on the windscreen. Both are worth checking before a long drive.
