fuel-prices.eu report based on the daily average of station prices
On 31 August 2026, the national average price of petrol in France reached €2.04/l, the highest price in our daily series of live station prices (since 26 June 2026). That is €0.005 a litre above the previous peak of €2.03/l, recorded on 30 August 2026.
Correction (26 September 2026): figures recalculated from the complete daily data, after we removed prices from stations that had left the official feed. Earlier version — Petrol, national average on 31 August 2026: €2.034/l (now €2.039/l).
Correction (27 September 2026): 25 June 2026 was a partial day (only a little over half of the usual number of stations reported), which our daily series leaves out, so the period now starts on 26 June 2026, the first complete day. Prices and percentages are unchanged. Earlier version — period covered: 25 June 2026 – 31 August 2026.

Prices are reported by station operators to prix-carburants.gouv.fr (Ministère de l’Économie, des Finances et de la Souveraineté industrielle et numérique). We collect them once a day and calculate the averages in this article ourselves. The national average is the unweighted mean of the 7,758 stations that reported a valid price for petrol, after we drop readings outside our plausibility range. Full method: how we calculate.
