Live pump prices

read 24 Oct 2026, 09:43 CEST

Current price of each live market in its official feed, in the local currency, converted to € at the exchange rate shown under the price: the average across stations where the feed lists every station; elsewhere the single price the source publishes (a regulated maximum or a national average) or the mean of its regional prices — named under each figure. Station averages use every station in the official feed whose price was read in the last 48 hours (France 6 hours, United Kingdom 7 days, Romania 24 hours), islands and special tax zones included, as in our research dataset D2; prices below half or above twice the median are left out (none today). Ranking of the 11 live markets that publish pump prices; Sweden is listed but not ranked (chain list prices, not pump prices); Malta (government-fixed price) is shown separately.

  1. Copy the data link — a CSV made for chart tools (no note lines at the end):https://www.fuel-prices.eu/press/dl/live-top10-petrol.csv?plain=1Also: JSON · Diesel CSV · weekly top 10 (Commission bulletin), CSV
  2. Datawrapper (updates itself): in step 1 choose “Link external dataset”, paste the link, then “Use Datawrapper server”. Datawrapper re-reads the file every minute for the first 24 hours, then every hour for 29 days; republish the chart to start the 30 days again.
  3. Flourish: in the “Data” tab, click “Upload data file” and pick the downloaded CSV. On Flourish business plans, “Import from URL” with the link keeps the chart up to date.
  4. Google Sheets: type =IMPORTDATA("https://www.fuel-prices.eu/press/dl/live-top10-petrol.csv?plain=1") in a cell; Sheets checks for updates every hour while the file is open. Excel: “Data” › “From Web”, paste the link, “OK”; “Refresh All” fetches the latest figures.

Quoting our figures in your reporting with the credit line needs no permission from us. If you want to republish whole tables or the CSV, check the source licences below: the live prices of Portugal, Andorra, Türkiye, Lithuania, Moldova, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina have been withdrawn from the site because their sources do not allow republication, and several live feeds publish no licence.

Live vs weekly, records, today’s money and how the data works

Station by station unless marked. † one national price (regulated maximum or national average) or regional averages. * chain list prices, not pump prices.

WeeklyBulletin only

Every other EU country — for example the Netherlands and Finland. Cite “EU Weekly Oil Bulletin, via fuel-prices.eu” with the bulletin date.

OfficialCapped or fixed

Belgium and Luxembourg set a legal maximum per fuel, VAT included, reset when product prices move and announced the day before (FPS Economy, guichet.lu). Malta has one government-fixed price at every station — €1.340/L petrol, €1.210/L diesel, unchanged since 15 Jun 2020 (Enemed price list).

The bulletin is the national average each government reports for the bulletin date; live is the current price in the market’s official feed: the simple average across stations where the feed lists every station, otherwise the regulated or national price, or the regional averages, that the source publishes. They are not comparable one-to-one, even for the same country.

Why live and weekly numbers differ

The two sets of figures above are measured differently and on different days, so for the same country they rarely match exactly. Live is the current price in the market’s official feed when we last collected it: the average of the station prices where the feed lists every station, otherwise the regulated or national price, or the regional averages, that the source publishes. Weekly is the national average each government reports to the European Commission for the Bulletin date (19 Oct 2026). The table compares the two for every live market that is also in the Bulletin; a gap of more than 5% is flagged and explained below.

More than 5% apart

  • Denmark, Euro-super 95: Denmark’s Bulletin figure is not a pump-price survey: the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority reports current consumer prices minus the previous quarter’s average discounts (Commission country notes). Our figure is the pump price the brands publish through their legally mandated price APIs. Over the 10 bulletins from 20 July to 21 September 2026, the Bulletin’s Danish Euro-super 95 was 8.8–12.1% above our weekly average pump price and 0.9–4.6% above Drivkraft Danmark’s daily recommended retail price; for diesel the two stayed within 5%.

Live values are the ones in the “Live” table above, converted to euro at the same ECB rate; Bulletin values are the ones in the “Weekly” table. The difference is recomputed with every refresh of this page.

How records and “today’s money” are calculated

  • Record = the highest or lowest weekly national average price, taxes included, in the EU Weekly Oil Bulletin since 3 Jan 2005, the start of our archive (Bulgaria and Romania from 2008, Croatia from 2013). If a value was reached more than once, the first week counts.
  • Data checks: values of zero and isolated jumps of more than 25% against both neighbouring weeks are left out (1); our archive is re-aligned every week with the Commission’s history file, so weeks the Commission revised after publication carry the revised figure; 10 country-weeks are missing in the bulletin history and are not filled in.
  • EU average = the European Commission’s average weighted by each country’s fuel consumption; the simple average of the 27 national averages is lower.
  • In today’s money = price × HICP of Sep 2026 ÷ HICP of the month of the price. HICP = the EU’s harmonised index of consumer prices, all items (Eurostat, dataset prc_hicp_minr, which replaced prc_hicp_midx in 2026; index 2015 = 100). Sep 2026 is the latest month Eurostat has published; weeks after it are not adjusted. The EU average uses the EU-27 index, each country its own.
  • The real record can fall in another week than the nominal one: prices were lower in the past, but so was everything else.
  • Countries that do not use the euro (Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Sweden): the bulletin reports their prices in € converted at each week’s exchange rate, so adjusting them with national inflation would mix inflation with exchange-rate moves — shown as n/a. Croatia is adjusted from July 2020 and Slovakia from January 2009, when their currencies became fixed to the euro; Denmark and Bulgaria are included because their currencies are fixed to the euro.
  • Denmark (petrol): Denmark’s Bulletin figure is current consumer prices minus the previous quarter’s average discounts, not a survey of pump prices.
  • Live markets: daily national average from each official feed (the same statistics as our research dataset D2): the mean of the station prices where the feed lists every station (prices outside 0.5–2 × the day’s median dropped); the mean of prefecture averages in Greece; 124 partial market-days are left out (fewer than 80% of the usual number of stations, the same rule as research dataset D2 and our news series). Record = the highest or lowest daily average since the first full day in that market (date per market). Local currency first; € at the exchange rate of the record day: the ECB reference rate. Inflation adjustment only where we have at least 12 months of data and Eurostat publishes an HICP for the country.
  • Sweden: chain list prices, not pump prices — not ranked.

Sources: EU Weekly Oil Bulletin (European Commission) · Eurostat HICP (prc_hicp_minr), updated by Eurostat 16 Oct 2026 · national station feeds (live markets) · daily statistics: research dataset D2.

How the live highest and lowest prices are chosen

  • One price at one station, not an average, from the markets whose official feed publishes prices station by station. Standard 95 petrol (E5 or E10) and standard diesel only: no 98/100 or premium grades, super unleaded, HVO, B10, LPG or E85.
  • Only prices whose time stamp in the source is under 24 hours old (48 for the daily files of Italy). Where the stamp is not the station’s own (Austria, Croatia, Iceland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain), a price unchanged for 14 days while its market moved by 3 cents or more counts as not updated.
  • Left out: prices in our misprint quarantine or excluded from our national rankings, prices outside 0.6–1.6 × the median of their market or €0.80–4.50 per litre, and one-off jumps of over 25% against the station’s last 7 days. Areas with special fuel taxes are also left out and shown separately under the cards: Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla (Spain), Corsica (France), Livigno and Campione d’Italia (Italy), Madeira and Azores (Portugal), found by postcode (in Italy by municipality, as the Italian feed has no postcode).
  • An extreme price also has to hold: the same price at two readings in a row, or unchanged for at least six hours since the station changed it.
  • Austria’s feed lists only the cheapest stations of each district. Other currencies: ECB rate of the price’s date. Ties: the latest update is shown. Recalculated every 10 minutes.

How the data works

  • Weekly: each EU country reports national average pump prices, taxes included, to the European Commission; we import every bulletin, back to 3 Jan 2005.
  • Live: in 12 markets we collect prices from the official national feed, as often as each national feed updates, from every 30 minutes to once a day. Where the feed lists every station, we average the station prices per fuel; where it publishes one national or regional price (a regulated maximum, prefecture averages, or chain list prices in Sweden), we use that price. Station averages follow the method of our research dataset D2: every station whose price we read from the feed recently (see the Live panel), including islands and special tax zones such as the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla and Livigno, after dropping prices below half or above twice the median; a market with far fewer stations than usual (under 80% of its median over the last 30 days) is listed but not ranked.
  • Live prices stay in the local currency. The euro values use the exchange rate of the day of each price: the European Central Bank reference rate, published around 16:00 CET on working days (the latest one on or before that day). Every converted price shows its rate, source and date.
  • The EU average on this page is the European Commission’s: the national bulletin prices weighted by each country’s fuel consumption, as published in the Weekly Oil Bulletin. Where this site shows its own “EU average” elsewhere, it is the simple mean of the 27 national averages, not weighted by consumption.
  • Every figure keeps its date; nothing is estimated or filled in when a source is late.
